After all,
He's smart, a former Harvard law professor, he's fair, and the most powerful man in the world and he's obviously peaceful because he won the nobel peace prize. Are republicans jealous of all of his acolades and accomplishments in his life? He's the number one person right now and there's NOTHING they can do about it. Also, he's going to be president for another 7 and 1/2 years.|||Those who say President Obama didn't do anything for the Peace Prize haven't been paying attention.
The missile defense system that President Bush wanted to install in northern Europe infuriated the Russians creating an atmosphere that could have started another Cold War. President Obama defused the issue by substituting deployed ships equipped with Aegis missile platform to protect the ME and Northern Europe. A brilliant move, why, because the Aegis missile system is capable of intercepting the short and medium range missiles of Iran without threatening Russia.
Obama's ME policy of getting consensus views from all parties with the intent of reaching an agreement through consensus is a new concept. His ME policy has yet to yield results, but it is better than ignoring the key members in the dispute, as was the way of the Bush administration.
is at the tables and talking with the Six world powers; Iran, with prodding, is now opening the doors to inspections of its nuclear facilities, and the Free World is working together to solve the economic problems initiating by the bad practices of Wall Street and our Banking industry. Obama immediately repealed the policy of torturing prisoners, under the Bush administration; the torturing of prisoners had disheartened the rest of the world and everyone was elated with Obama鈥檚 announcement. Obama's getting Russia in line with the US (instead of with China) over Iran was nothing short of astonishing.
Obama has done plenty to deserve the Noble Peace prize. He has given the world-at-large hope!
Do I think he's one of the greatest people of all time? Not at this point, but I think he may well go on to be one of our best presidents ever. I agree with everything else you said and that he will get two terms. We hear a lot of blustering from the right and in our "news" media -- but we heard that before the election and the voters rejected it. We've seen what the Republicans and thirty years of Reaganomics can do (trickle down my foot), and it is very likely to be a long long time before we ever let them back in power again.|||I dont. The guy didn't really do anything to deserve it. If anything its an award to show how everyone how much the media has fell in love with him.|||I do.|||What he's doing to our country scares me. It will take generations to fix things if he gets his way.|||no one except his worshipers.|||I'm withholding my vote on that so far. I voted for him to begin with and for some time I was pretty impressed. But when he caved into giving billions to bankers and chrysler who we've been giving money to for 20 years just like every single president has done before him, then i lost the faith. As for peace, why is he sending in yet more troops into afghanistan then wins a prize. Are we being set up? Of course. Nothing is changed. Politicians are what they have always been. All I learned is to not bother to vote anymore. Samuel Clemmons once wrote, though it is possible to put an honest man into office, it is totally impossible for him to stay that way more than 6 weeks. Looking back in history , its very clear that never a truer statement has even been said. With two wars going on currently, like many say where's the beef, I am left asking "where's the peace"? Tho I liked the man, i'm quite confused by the award and I can't find the relevance in this picture. If there is no peace, how does that warrant an award? So has the nobel committee always been quite this insane, or have they always been insane, and I"m the one who is just waking up to it. Now thats a shame too, because I consider myself quite awake on all issues but when it comes to Nobel, now i'm really confused. Nothing to do with President Obama, I think even he is scratching his head on this. But then, who else in the world is currently doing any thing toward peace. They must have just put on a blindfold this year, spun around, and poked a pin in a map and who ever was in charge of whatever country they poked, got the award. There is no other explanation.
