He just won the Nobel Peace Prize. He's only been in office 9 months. And to my knowledge Israel and Palistine are still fighting. Iraq and the insurgents are still squabbling, People in Afghanistan are still getting killed. And Iran still doesn't look like they are going to stop trying to get a nuke so they can wipe Israel off the map. So, what's he doing to make peace with anyone?|||Winston Churchill said of the Royal Air Force that for their actions in fighting the nightly Nazi bombardments: "Never ... was so much owed by so many to so few..."
In President Obama's case this quote should read: "Never has so much been given to someone who has accomplished so little."
The Nobel Prize committee clearly supports and endorses an agenda the reduces the role of the United States in the world, promotes global governance over national sovereignty, and brings about equality among nations by reducing the standard of living of prosperous nations rather than promoting economic freedom in the developing world.
When examining the records of the last three US politicians to win the Peace prize, the agenda of the committee is easily seen. Woodrow Wilson's work in subjugating national sovereignty to the League of Nations won him the prize in 1919, Jimmy Carter's 2002 Peace prize was given in support of his opposition to the US's right to defend itself without authorization from an international authority, and Al Gore won the prize for endorsing a policy that requires the Western World to lower its standard of living by up to 30% in the hopes that it will lower global temperatures by less than 1 degree over 100 years.
The nominations for this prize had to be submitted 2 weeks after President Obama took office, it has more to do with the committee's agenda than Obama himself. The prize is encouragement to those who share their agenda. Obama was chosen because of his rhetoric favoring the UN as the primary authority in the world over national sovereignty, stated (although not actually implemented) policy changes from those of the Bush Administration, and willingness to lower the standard of living of the West to bring them down to the level of the developing world regardless of the realistic global economic consequences.
Under the committee's guidelines for choosing their winner, yes, President Obama was the appropriate choice. They do not necessarily reward accomplishments, they reward intentions that are in agreement with their agenda. If it was my committee and my prize, I would not reward the President for the policies he endorses and the agenda he buys into.|||Obama won the Nobel for K.I.D.G.M ( Kissing the International's Dirty Gluteus Maximus) Prize.
Notable nominatons for the Nobel Peace Prize were Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini.
Non-winners of the Nobel Peace prize: Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhover, Winston Churchill, Mahatma Gandhi. What ! Gandhi the most notable non-violent figure in the world didn't get one. The non-winners, DID more for peace than TALK about peace.
FYI, people think Winston Churchill was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but he was actually awarded the 1953 Nobel Prize in Literature.|||As I see it,it's two things,Politics and an extension of the ever present Cult of Personality that surrounds Comrade 0bama.
The Cult of Personality part is easy, for some reason people worship this guy.He wrote two self obssessed "Autobiographies" which were best sellers despite they described a man of no accomplishments. He went from a barely known State Senator,to US Senator,to President in about 3 years despite accomplishing very little, and was worshipped for it.He just has that personality that people flock to,like others I could mention(But since most of those cases ended horribly,I'll leave that part alone)
The rest is that he's made the dreams of Socialists all over the Planet come true.A dream of a US run by a true Socialist, who would drive the US in a hard left turn toward being a Socialist Society. They have a President who is ready willing and able to subjegate the future of the US to the will of "International Community".They have a President who might finally leave our Citizens subject to having their lives at least in part controlled by the likes of the UN,through dictates given for the "Common Good".
This is their dream come true, and their only fear now is that this chance will be wasted.
