What are reasons why naguib mahfouz should not have won the nobel prize?

I have a debate and I have to argue that Faulkner was much more deserving of the nobel prize and Mahfouz was not, any ideas?|||A difficult argument to make given the body of Mahfouz' work and the fact that he fathered a genre and brought the marginalised `others' out into the open. Very difficult to argue that Faulkner was more deserving.
