Which Indian author can win the Nobel Prize for literature?

Doris Lessing is this year's winner of the Nobel Prize for literature. Indians have only come to the Pulitzer or the Booker level so far. Does any Indian author have the potential to win the Nobel as well? Who is that author and why do you think he/she can win it?|||premchand...|||Rabindranath tagore|||Sarah Joseph|||Gulzar and Javed Akhtar Best Script and lyrics writer and

Rabindranath Tagore (1861 - 1941)

Nobel Prize for Literature (1913)

Tagore was born and lived in Calcutta for most of his life. He was one of modern India's greatest poets and the composer of independent India's national anthem. In 1901 he founded his school, the Santiniketan, at Bolpur as a protest against the existing bad system of education. The school was a great success and gave birth to Viswabharati. He was awarded the 1913 Nobel Prize in Literature for his work "Gitanjali"; for the English version, published in 1912. The noble citation stated that it was "because of his profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse, by which, with consummate skill, he has made his poetic thought, expressed in his own English words, a part of the literature of the West." In 1915, he was knighted by the British King George V. Tagore renounced his knighthood in 1919 following the Amritsar massacre or nearly 400 Indian demonstrators.|||Salman Rushdie|||The decision is left to the authorities.

Moreover, the Nobel Prize is not a "winning-losing" business like other prizes/awards. You or me are not the ones who should decide which Indian can win the Prize. If we are... we should have been the Nobel laureates so far. We are too small to think on such aspects. Dear, I suggest you not to waste your time in such things because all the things you do should not be necessarily given awards/prizes. Keep doing good things in life. Your small help for someone might be much more than a Nobel Prize. Keep helping others whenever and wherever possible. That's the essence of life.

World is still a big mess ! Just to say, no one alone can make the difference .. no matter how giant his/her thinking is .... no matter how colossal intellect he/she has .....

Mother Teresa did a great job. Does it mean her work would have been not so great if she had not been awarded the Nobel Prize ? I believe she deserves infinite number of Nobel Prizes not only one ......There are many people who sincerely do their duties and serve the people by heart. In my opinion those all are the Nobel Laureates.|||vairamutu because of his poeti andhe sacrificedhim for literature.|||Hey! Tagore was given the nobel prize. His books are extremely good. For an author to reach that Zenith the initial requirement is to be strongly tied with his/her root, the culture and traditions. Presently, we tend to be more focussed on the art of imbibing Western Culture rather than digging deep and being in love with ours. We need to look more into our resources for reaching such heights.|||It must be Prem Chand only.|||It may be Arundhati Roy or Anita Nair...
