Why have Jews won 110 times their due proportion of Nobel Prizes?

Out of the 802 individuals who have won the Nobel Prize, 180 (22%) were of Jewish ethnicity. In 1900, Jews made up 0.7% of the global population: today, that number is at 0.2%. That means that Jews have won between 30 and 110 times the number of Nobel Prizes than would be expected based on their proportion of the global population. What possible reasons are there for this anomaly?|||they prize education and intelligence, just like Americans prize simple answers and foolish questions.|||jews are smart, and they value education

there are of course, genes involved in intelligence. there is a theory that these same genes are also responsible for the high incidence of tay sachs disease amongst jews.

one possible evolutionary explanation for the high intelligence of jews is that during the middle ages, jews were banned from many jobs. they were allowed to do jobs such as banking. such jobs require intelligence, and the theory is that high intelligence became selected for|||Ashkenazi Jews have the highest IQ of any ethnic group in the entire world. The idea that IQ is culturally relative is nonsense, since Ashkenazi Jews have assimilated into many different cultures and always managed to make it to the top tier of society.|||Because they have a tradition of scholarship.





Books are respected. Their religious leaders are literally scholars (rabbi translates to scholar) and there is a tradition of discussion and examination within and without their faith.|||Based upon your statistics, I guess you will have to acknowledge that the Jewish community has contributed much more than other ethnicities to the betterment of this world.|||answer: Jews have always encouraged learning and questioning everything and highly value education.|||Well I can not comment on Jewish people as a hole because Im not one.
