Who has the right to say who deserves a Nobel Prize?

The Nobel Prize is awarded by Norway. It is their prize and it is their prerogative to decide who receives it.

Why should anyone else think they have to right to say that a recipient doesn't deserve the award?|||The Nobel Committee awards it, and not everyone on the committee is Norwegian. In any event, if you disagree with the awarding of the prize, you're free to try to join the committee and give it to someone else next time.|||WRONG, The Nobel Prizes are Swedish in origin (all of them) and all except one (the Peace Prize) are awarded by various Swedish institutions. The Nobel Peace Prize is handled by a Norwegian-based Nobel Committee.

|||First of all the only prize awarded in Oslo, Norway is the peace prize as all others are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden on the 10th of december the anniversary of Nobels death. The reason for this is when Alfred Nobel died Sweden and Norway were joined together by the Swedish-Norwegian Union.

Most people are a little confused at the fact of Obama winning the peace prize when he was only in office for 3 weeks before nominations were stopped they feel he won it for what he has promised to do in his administration not for any actions as of yet and to let the bush administration know that they were upset with the way they handled their diplomatic relations with other countries|||They Nobel committee has the right to award its prizes as it sees fit. People in the United States have the right to express their opinion of the committee's choices.|||Since Obama has never accomplished anything, the award is wide open to ridicule.|||Good point. The Norwegians are neither Democrats nor Republicans, so the claims that it's politically biased are absurd.|||nobody has the right, unless their apart of the judges that give out the Nobel prize.|||Republicans|||You don't have to agree with judges on a TV show, so why should you have to agree with judges on this?|||God|||Nice spin Im not buy ing the chit your peddling|||We all do.
